Making Changes to Your Property
JVL aspires to promote sustainability, balancing the need to ensure high standards of construction with the conservation of the village’s rural environment. Properties on the Jordans Village Estate are subject to controls aimed at maintaining the rural feel of the village, which is characterised by a mix of open spaces, fields, woodlands, natural boundaries, minimal hard landscaping, and a sense of space around properties which sit comfortably within their plot and location. This helps us preserve the beautiful semi-rural environment and the "openness" of the Green Belt in which the Village is located, and is one of the main reasons why people are attracted to Jordans. How to Apply for Consent Please read the Guidelines for Residents for full details of what sort of things require our consent, and how to make an application. Click here to download a copy of the current Guidelines. Those seeking Pre-Application advice, or wishing to submit a full Application should submit plans, along with the appropriate application fee to JVL's Estate Office on or before the first day of the month in order to be considered at the next Management Committee meeting. Please note that the Management Committee does not usually meet in August or December. This submission date will be strictly adhered to. Incomplete or invalid applications may not be accepted. Decisions The Property Sub-Committee may approve or refuse all planning applications, except:
The quorum required at any meeting of the Property Sub-Committee to make a recommendation to the Management Committee is a minimum of 2 persons. The Management Committee decides on Property Sub-Committee recommendations. At least 50% of Management Committee Members (excluding any Members subject to a conflict of interest on the application concerned) must be in agreement with a recommendation for it to be approved. In the event that the minimum number of Members is unable to agree, but the application is supported by a majority of those present (excluding any conflicted members), the matter is deferred to a later meeting for reconsideration. If a recommendation made by the Property Sub-Committee is overturned at a Management Committee meeting, then at least 3 Property Sub-Committee members must have been present at that meeting; if not then the decision should be deferred to the next meeting of the Management Committee (but this decision can only be deferred once). |
